Profile

My name is Sophia Adjoa Micah, a native of Dixcove in the Ahanta- West Municipal of the Western Region of Ghana. I am a product of Archbishop Porter Girls’ Secondary School and Holy Child College all in Takoradi. I obtained a Diploma in Special Education (EMH) and Home Economics (Management in Living) from the University of Education, Winneba, B.Ed. Psychology, MPhil. in Educational Administration and M.Ed. Guidance & Counselling from the University of Cape Coast.

I have taught at various levels of education, among them are Komenda Secondary Technical School and Holy Child College of Education in Takoradi. I taught Social Studies and Management in Living at Komenda Secondary Technical School. I was also the Guidance & Counselling Co-ordinator then later became the Senior House mistress. I served on a number of committees in the school and was the patron of some clubs and societies such as Junior Achievement, Girls’ Education / STME and HIV /AIDS & Family Life.

At Holy Child College of Education in Takoradi, I was a tutor in the Education Department. I took up the position of House mistress, then became the Senior Housemistress, Dean of students, and then College Secretary. I served on a number of committees in the college and attended a lot of workshops / conferences. I received the award for Best Teacher, 2nd position in the region and a certificate of honour from the Road Safety Commission, as the patron of the Road Safety Club, Holy Child Chapter. I am the immediate past president of the Holy Child College of Education Alumnae Association. I have been an examiner for WAEC in Social Studies (WASSSCE). I started as an Assistant Examiner, became a Team leader then a Vetter.

I was a course tutor with the College of Distance Education, UCC, TADISCO Centre. I have taught on the sandwich programmes for UTDBE & Top-up Diploma for Cert A teachers organized by the then Teacher Education Division of the GES and the Institute of Education, UCC sandwich programmes for B.Ed. Basic Education and Early Childhood Education.

I assumed duty as Principal of St Teresa’s College of Education, Hohoe in November, 2018. As a Principal of this noble institution I serve as the academic and executive head and chief disciplinary officer of the college. Performance of my duties requires co-ordinating the various units and departments of the college to achieve the vision and mission of the college. Reliance on God, humility, hardwork and relating well with the people around and tolerance has brought me this far. I urge the up and coming youth to be dedicated and committed to duty, accept delegated duties and be prepared to go the extra mile in your endeavours.
